What is a Human Design Type?
Your Human Design Type is the most fundamental element of your chart — it's determined by which centers are defined and how they connect, and it sets your aura, your Strategy for engaging with the world, and the emotional signature that tells you whether you're aligned. There are five Types: Generator (37%), Manifesting Generator (33%), Projector (20%), Manifestor (9%), and Reflector (1%).
Type is calculated from your BodyGraph's configuration: whether you have a defined Sacral, whether a motor center connects directly to the Throat, and how many centers are defined overall. You don't need to work this out manually — your free chart displays your Type immediately.
Each Type comes with its own Strategy (how to correctly engage with life) and Signature (the feeling that confirms you're on track), which is why Type is the starting point for reading any Human Design chart.
